China’s total output of TiO2 in 2014 was 2.10 million tonnes. The top 10 companies accounted for 54.52%, 5.05 percentage points higher than 49.47% in 2013, according to CCM.
“This indicates that the industry has become more concentrated” commented Dean Wu, Editor of Titanium Dioxide China Monthly Report.
As for the export volumes of TiO2 in China, China exported 608,500 tonnes of TiO2 in total in 2014, increasing by 35.46% year on year, according to China Customs. The top 10 companies accounted for 73.08% of the total.
Sichuan Lomon had the largest export volume, increasing by 64.16% year on year to 134,900 tonnes. Its main export destinations were Brazil, the US, South Korea and countries in Southeast Asia.
Anhui Annada gained the biggest growth in export volume among the top 10 companies. Its export volume soared by 85.32% year on year to 11,329 tonnes. Its TiO2 was mainly exported to India, US and Malaysia.
"In 2014, export volumes of TiO2 of the top 10 TiO2 companies increased significantly. That’s mainly because exploring the overseas market has become an important way to digest capacity when domestic market demand was depressed” said Dean.
"It will be easier for companies with larger production scales to expand their market shares in the international market.”
Currently, CCM is working on the list of the top 10 TiO2 companies in 2015.
When asked about the changes in the list of TiO2 companies in 2015, Dean stated: “Sichuan Lomon and Henan Billions is the clear leader in China’s TiO2 industry after their merger in May 2015.”
"Jilin GPRO Titanium Industry Co., Ltd. will enjoy a higher position after the 100,000 t/a TiO2 project of its subsidiary was officially put into production”
"However, the ranks of the other companies are more or less stable” he added.
