LHG released a brief report for its 2020 performance on 5 March, showing that its net profit and profit deducting non-recurring gains and losses both achieved positive growth despite that its revenues decreased. The prices of domestic methionine and lysine kept rising in March. The price hikes of methionine were affected by the US announcement of preliminary determination to impose anti-dumping duties on the methionine imported from France, Spain and Japan as well as affected by its dwindling supply; while the price increase of lysine was supported by raw material. In addition, African swine fever broke out again recently, which may weaken amino acid demands from the downstream breeding industry.

On 25 March, Fufeng Group published its 2020 performances showing that its revenues edged up 3.2% YoY while its net profits and gross profits decreased by 44.6% YoY and 13.6% YoY respectively. These were mainly due to the rising revenues from amino acid products and price hikes of raw materials.

The National Food Safety Standard Food additive DL-alanine and the National Food Safety Standard Food additive L-threonine were issued on 18 March and will come into force starting on 22 Aug., 2021.

On 18 March, Meihua Group signed a contract for production of 300,000 t/a lysine. The project is undertaken by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Jilin Meihua. With a total investment of USD308.9 million (RMB2 billion), it is expected to launch trial production in Nov. 2021. After completion, Jilin Meihua will become the global largest lysine producer, with a capacity of over 700, 000 t/a.

On 26 Feb., Yuxing Biological's 200,000 t/a lysine project as well as its 24,000 t/a aspartame and 5,000 t/a L-phenylalanine project were kick-started. The two projects are also listed in Hebei Province's key construction projects in 2021.
