SCO Workshop on Development of Animal Husbandry opened in Xinjiang

    Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Workshop on Development of Animal Husbandry under the 4th China-Eurasia Expo was held in Urumqi of Xinjiang, China on September 3, 2014.

  

     

  

    Mr.Niu Dun, Vice Minister of MOA, Mr.Maao Saiyitihamuzha, Vice Governor of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Mr.Liu Xiangsong, Vice Commissar of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, Mr. Zevarshoev, Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, and representatives of SCO Secretariat attended and addressed the Workshop.

  

     

  

    The theme of the Workshop was "to strengthen animal husbandry and facilitate regional agricultural development", focusing on bolstering pragmatic cooperation among SCO member countries in livestock breeding and farming, animal product processing and trade, and so on.

  

     

  

    In his keynote speech "Carrying on silk road spirit, strengthening SCO cooperation in animal production", Vice Minister Niu Dun put forward a four-point proposal for future cooperation: first, to boost communication and cooperation in animal production S&T; second, to step up cooperation in animal disease control & prevention; third, to deepen cooperation in human resource development; and fourth, to facilitate investment collaboration of enterprises.

  

     

  

    The Workshop was co-organized by MOA, the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. Over 80 delegates from SCO member countries and SCO Secretariat attended the Workshop.

  

     

  

    During his stay in Xinjiang, Niu also had a bilateral meeting with Mr.Zevarshoev, his counterpart of the Republic of Tajikistan.
