Minle county, in the city of Zhangye, Gansu province, develops its sightseeing agriculture in recent years, which refers to the combination of agriculture and tourism, in hopes of attracting tourists to spend more time and enjoy themselves in the rural area.
Several measures were employed by Minle to succeed in its tourism business, such as transforming around 10,600 hectares of land along the national highway No. 227 into solar greenhouses, a potato cultivation base and a traditional Chinese medicinal material base. The total investment of the land transformation was more than 16 million yuan, and involves 14 or more villages. The local villagers benefits from the new agriculture model, as it brings various channels for making money.
