Australia’s Newcastle Port’s coal exports fall

According to Newcastle Port Corporation, coal shipments from the Port of Newcastle totaled 2.3 million tons in the week ended on July 1st, falling by 24.8% from a week ago.

In June, the Port of Newcastle's exports of thermal and coking coal totaled around 12 million tons. The port authority predicted that the Newcastle Port will ship around 12.3 million tons for the whole of July.

Meanwhile, the larger exporters to ship coal from the Port of Newcastle are Anglo American, Peabody Energy, Rio Tinto and Xstrata.
