Japan’s June coking coal imports down 10.8% on month

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's coking coal imports totaled 5.5 million tonnes in June this year, falling by 10.8% MOM and down slightly by 0.3% compared to June 2011.

In the first half of 2012, Japan's coking coal imports amounted to 34.3 million tonnes, decreasing by 0.9% YOY.

In H1 2012, Japan's coking coal imports from Australia rose by 2.9% compared to the same period of last year to 18.36 million tonnes, while Indonesia exported 8.1 million tonnes of coking coal to Japan, rising by 9.9% YOY.
