According to the data released by China Customs, in the first half of 2012 China imported a total of 140 MT which was 66% higher, boosted by an increase in coking coal imports of 175% YOY to 43.6 MT. In contrast, China's exports of coal slumped 18% during the first half compare to 2011.
The country's imports of coal in June jumped by 98% YOY to 27.2 million tonnes(MT). Coking coal rocketed by 94% to 6.5 MT June compared to last year.

Imports from the US were 4.69MT in the first half of 2012, growing 47.71% YOY, while the tonnage from Canada hit 4.52 MT, up 99.47%.
