China imported 5.09 million t of coking coal in Apr.

According to the data released by China's customs, China imported 25.05 million t of coal in April, surging by 90.1% as compared to the same period of last year. While in January to April of this year China's overall coal imports totaled 86.55 million t, jumping by 69.6% year on year.

Among the overall imports, China's coking coal imports came to 5.09 million t in April, up 59.7% year over year and the year-to-date imports stood at 17.29 million t, hiking by 26.3% year over year. At the same time, China's anthracite coal imports had decreased by 10.5% from prior year to 3.36 million t in April and the year-to-date imports had reached 12.57 million t, rising by 35.6% year over year. Besides, China also imported 7.23 million of the power coal in April and the year-to-date imports reached 25.29 million t, soaring by 312.5% and 188.2% respectively from the same period of previous year.
