GuangzhouChina Jan. 21, 2011 -Despite the fact that the export of melamine recovered in 2010 in China, up about 29% over the previous year, China's melamine production has been witnessing more serious overcapacity, for its demand growth slows down, while Chinese producers still expands their capacity.
What is the future of China's melamine industry? Three aspects are treated more prudently as follows:
Firstly, the most important thing is to develop new downstream products. Currently, melamine is mainly used in laminate industry, coating industry, papermaking industry, molded plastics industry and adhesives industry in China. Thanks to fast growth of Chinese economy, the consumption volume in these traditional fields will still keep uptrend. However, their growth rates in melamine demand will continue to slow down. Therefore, the new consumption fields of melamine, such as melamine foam, melamine fiber, water-reducing admixture, flame retardants, should speed up their R&D and application.
Secondly, the export of melamine will still play an important role in Chinese melamine industry. In the past years, about 20%~30% melamine output is exported annually in China. Though China's melamine industry has faced the anti-dumping from EU and India, the new overseas markets, such as Southeast Asia and America, are greatly attractive for China's melamine producers.
Thirdly, the stricter regulations for melamine production are still necessary in the future. From 2008 to 2010, Chinese government has released some policies to regulate the melamine production, especially in closing down backward production facilities (capacity blow 10,000t/a). However, with the technological advance, these standards should be enforced, and the stricter regulations in environmental protection will be carried out to fulfill China's promise in Copenhagen.
In a word, Chinese melamine industry will still enjoy a promising future. Moreover, do you want to know more detailed information about Chinese melamine industry? Please follow CCM 's latest updated report in March.
