According to the data released by China Customs recently, in January to October of this year, Chinese overall coal imports amounted to 138.98 million metric tons, surging by 4.2% year over year. Meanwhile, in October alone Chinese coal imports stood at 15.69 million metric tons, swelling by 27.9% year over year.
Among them the anthracite imports rose by 47.6% year-on-year to 2.86 million metric tons and the year-to-date imports came to 29.84 million metric tons, jumping by 39.8% year over year.
During the given month, the domestic coking coal imports totaled 4.16 million metric tons, down 4.6% year over year. Meanwhile, the year-to-date coking coal imports had decreased by 7.9% as compared to previous year to 34.55 million metric tons.
Besides, Chinese power coal imports in October had risen by 25.1% year-on-year to 4.39 million metric tons and the year-to-date imports came to 37.69 million metric tons, down 12.7% year over year.
