According to the data released by China Customs recently, in January to October of this year, Chinese overall coke and semi-finished coke exports amounted to 3.11 million metric tons, surging by 17.17% year over year. Meanwhile, in October alone Chinese coke and semi-finished coke exports in stood at 0.11 million metric tons.
Dragged by the soft demand from steelmaker, Chinese coke market has stagnated for a long time and most of coke producers have focused on the export market. However, Chinese coking coal price is not battered by the slack coke market and still remains at high levels.
As is known to all, November belongs to the traditional low season and the downstream steel market is also gloomy. Thereby, the price cut for domestic coke market is almost inevitable and we expect that more coke enterprises will slash their prices in the short run.
