China's stocks opened lower on Tuesday, following an overnight rout on Wall Street.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.7 percent to open at 2,423.28, while the Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.67 percent lower at 10,442.57.
Overnight, U.S. stocks suffered a sell-off, fuelled by German Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesman's warning that there is no quick way to resolve all the issues surrounding the eurozone debt crisis.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the day down 247.49 points or 2.13 percent.
