As constant civil projects break ground in South Xinjiang this year, the market demand for building materials has ramped up drastically. Consequently lots of domestic steelmakers have begun to set up their subsidiaries there.
It is reported that the Bayi steel, a subsidiary from Baosteel, will found a new metal fabricating mill in Kashgar with the annual capacity of 1 million t, which aims to build the most competitive enterprise in west China or central Asia.
Previously, Shangdong Iron and Steel Group also had invested 7.3 billion yuan in Kashgar for building a 'steel capital' there.
