According to the data released by China's customs, China imported 17.53 million t of coal in July, surging by 36.2% as compared to the same period of last year. While in January to July of this year China's overall coal imports totaled 87.87 million t, decreasing by 5.3 percent year on year.
Among the coal imports, China's coking coal imports came to 4.05 million t in July, up 28.9% year over year and the year-to-date imports stood at 23.21 million t, down 8.9% year over year. And China's anthracite coal imports amounted to 3.63 million t in July and the year-to-date imports hit 20.85 million t, rising by 88.6% and 37.9% respectively. Besides, China also imported 4.99 million of the power coal in July and the year-to-date imports reached 20.27 million t, up 15.1% and 33.6% respectively.
