Malaysia's MITI has published a public notice that On January 1st, 2014, MITI will re-introduce import license (AP) for three wire rod products which under the tariff heading HS 7227.10.000 (High speed steel); 7227.20.000 (Silicon-manganese steel); and 7227.90.000 (others).
The importation of goods under those three HS codes into Malaysia, including the Free Zones, is prohibited except under an Import License (AP) and AP must be obtained before any shipment reaches Malaysia.
All first time applications must be submitted manually to MITI; and it must be accompanied by a set of documents as outlined in the AP Checklist.
