Food Prices Extend Declines For 6 Weeks

Prices of agricultural food products fell for the sixth consecutive week during the week of November 14-20, reports Shanghai Securities News, according to the Ministry of Finance.

Sufficient supplies of eggs led to egg prices declining for eight straight weeks, with the cumulative price decline during this period hitting four percent. Egg prices dropped 0.8 percent week-on-week last week. 

Pork prices fell 1.7 percent last week, with prices dropping by a total of 9.8 percent since mid-September.

During the same period, the average wholesale price of eight aquatic products fell 0.3 percent, of which the price of silver carp fell two percent. 

Meanwhile, the average wholesale price of 18 types of vegetables rose 1.5 percent, of which the price of cucumber surged 18.4 percent.

Shares of Shenzhen Agricultural Products (000061) fell 0.89 percent to trade at 14.40 yuan per share at 14:56 today.
