On August 29, the Russia-China Crude Pipeline began to cross the Heilongjiang River, the border of Russia and China.

Owners of the Heilongjiang crossing project are CNPC China Russia Cooperation Department and OAO AK Transneft. China Oil and Gas Pipeline Company Limited and Moody International are the general contractor and engineering supervisor respectively. The engineering design is jointly made by petroleum engineering design institutes of both countries and approved by the two governments.

Directional drilling will be applied for the crossing engineering and start on both banks of the river simultaneously. The crossing will have dual lines, one for use and the other for standby. The crossing span will be 1,150 meters and planned to be completed in June 2010.
