On September 15, Qinshui coal-bed methane pipeline in Shanxi Province was put into operation. It is China's first large diameter and high pressure CBM pipeline, with a designedannual gas deliverability of 3 billion cubic meters.

The 35km-long CBM pipeline, from Duanshi town to Qinshui booster station, began to be constructed on June 6, 2008. Qinshui booster station, the largest one in China, is composed of the CBM pipeline terminal station and the initial station of the West-East Gas Pipeline. The station is equipped with seven compressor units, with single maximum power of 31 MW.

Once being operational, the pipeline will deliver coal-bed methane produced in the Qinshui Basin to the West-East Gas Pipeline, so as to not only promote the CBM development in Shanxi Province, but also reduce accident risks in coal mining.
