On June 5, CNPC released its 2008 Bulletin on Environmental Protection. This is the 11th consecutive year that CNPC publishes an Environmental Protection Bulletin.
The bulletin delivers an introduction to measures and performances of CNPC and its subsidiaries in eight aspects, including environment management, support to Beijing Olympics, circular economy, control on greenhouse gas emissions, pollution control, ambient air quality of mining zones, ISO14001 management system and environmental welfare. In 2008, CNPC made new achievements in the safe, economical and clean development, through steady measures in promoting HSE system, tackling hidden environmental risks, strengthening energy conservation and emissions reduction, and accelerating the development of circular economy. According to the bulletin, the emissions of sulfur dioxide, discharge of oil-related pollutants and COD fell by 5.6%, 12.1% and 8.6% respectively. No major accidents resulting in environmental pollution and ecological damage occurred.
