Welding of the western section of the Second West-East Gas Pipeline completed

On June 4, main works of the western section of the Second West-East Gas Pipeline were completed.

Construction of the Second West-East Gas Pipeline is divided into two sections. Launched on February 22, 2008, the western section (from Horgos in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to Zhongwei in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region) of the pipeline traverses Xinjiang, Gansu, Shaanxi and Ningxia with a trunk length of 2,410 km. In the construction, X80/Φ1219 steel pipe was firstly adopted. A total of 224,000 craters have been welded along the western section with a primary percent of pass of 98.73%. The daily capacity per individual automatic welding machine reached a record high of 130 craters. Completion of the welding works has guaranteed the operation of the western section by the end of this year.
