On June 26, at the eve of the 50th anniversary of Daqing Oilfield, Chinese President Hu Jintao paid a visit to Daqing to express his greetings to workers at front line, research staff and model workers. President Hu highly appreciated Daqing's remarkable contributions to China's petroleum industry, and emphasized that Daqing Spirit, in addition to independent innovation, do and will always serve the sustainable development of this mature oilfield. He encouraged people working in the oilfield to carry Daqing Spirit forward, overcome
technical
barriers, and make even greater contributions to the development of our petroleum industry.
At the operation site of 1205 drilling crew, where "Iron Man" Wang Jinxi used to work, Hu talked with workers, asking details about the drilling operation, HSE performance, energy reservation and emissions reduction, and living condition in field operation.
At Daqing Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development, President Hu listened the working briefing about technical innovation, and learnt about general situation of remaining recoverable oil reserves and R&D of production techniques, especially tertiary and quaternary recovery
technologies
. He expected that Daqing will continue to increase oil recovery through independent innovation, so as to maintain the field's long-term stable and high production.
President Hu also visited the exhibition hall of Daqing Oilfield, where he interviewed model workers, and retrospected the history of the field's development together with them.
