On April 16, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, who is paying a visit in China at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao, called on CNPC headquarters and interviewed 29 enterprisers from 14 Chinese companies, with the accompanying of Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan.
Nazarbayev and Wang also visited Beijing Oil and Gas Pipeline Control Center, and were briefed on the situations of China's long-distance oil & gas pipeline, including the West-East Gas Pipeline, Kazakhstan-China Crude Pipeline, Central Asia-China Gas Pipeline and the Western Crude Oil Pipeline.
China would play an important role in global development in the 21st century, said Nazarbayev, faced with the impact of global financial crisis, China's experience provides meaningful reference for many countries. He introduced
Kazakhstan
's investment environment, economic situation and policies related to enterprise investment. He added that CNPC is the most important partner of Kazakhstan. Kazakh would provide supports for enterprises in the fields of manufacture, electromechanicals, energy and traffic, and more and more Chinese companies are encouraged to make investment in Kazakhstan, with the aim of opening up new areas of bilateral cooperation and promoting trade growth between the two countries.
Wang said, China and Kazakhstan have witnessed the sustainable and rapid development of Sino-Kazakh strategic partnership in recent years, reflected by deepening in mutual political trust, rapid growth in bilateral trade, and steady improvement in energy and finance cooperation. Particularly when international financial crisis is still spreading, both countries should intensify bilateral cooperation, and jointly deal with the challenges. He added, as Chinese Chairman of Sino-Kazakh Cooperation Council, he would like to join hands with his counterpart-Deputy Prime Minister Shukeyev, to implement the consensus of leaders of two countries, stimulating the cooperation in the fields of economics and trade, energy, and finance. On the other hand, enterprises are encouraged to make new contribution to promoting the bilateral cooperation. Chinese government would make efforts for an even better investment environment, aiming to enhance cooperation in various fields to a higher stage, bring more benefits to the two nations.
Under the guidance of Central Party Committee and the State Council and with the support of the Kazakh government, CNPC and relevant Kazakh authorities and companies jointly enhanced cooperation in oil and gas, and have made a good beginning in developing economic and benefiting people in the two countries. CNPC will do ultimate efforts to contribute to energy cooperation and the people's friendship and happiness of the two countries.
Enterprisers from China Nuclear Power Group, the Export-Import Bank of China, CITIC Group, NORINCO and HUAWEI delivered speeches during the luncheon. President Nazarbayev and the enterprisers exchanged ideas in a pragmatic and friendly way.
Later in the afternoon, CNPC and KazMunayGas signed a framework agreement on promoting oil and gas cooperation and on supporting a financing of USD 5 billion in the Great Hall of the People. Then, the two companies reached into an agreement with Central Asia Petroleum Ltd. about jointly purchasing MangistauMunaiGas.
