On March 22, the cumulative oil production of Daqing Oilfield amounted to two billion tons. Since it came into operation 50 years ago, Daqing Oilfield has contributed 40% of China's total onshore crude production, significantly facilitating the robust development of national economy.

Daqing Oilfield was discovered in 1959 and put into production in 1960. Layered waterflood had helped to build the field's productivity quickly in the initial stage, and boosted its annual output up to 50 million tons in 1976. In the 1980s' and 1990s', Stabilizing Oil Production and Controlling Water Cut Project was launched in Daqing, and the field's annual production had been maintained at over 50 million tons for consecutive 27 years. Since 2002, polymer flooding and ASP flooding have been widely applied in Daqing, contributing10 million tons to the total output every year, and helped to maintain the field's annual production at 40 million tons by now.

In the year 2008, Daqing Oilfield produced 40.2 million tons of crude oil.
