Commercial test on the 120kt/a unit with the technology of two-stage riser catalytic cracking for maximizing propylene yield (TMP) at Daqing Petrochemical Company succeeded, achieving world-leading production indexes with regard to maximizing propylene yield, as well as enhancing yield and quality of light oil. Seven invention patents associated with this TMP technology are pending.

The TMP technology is developed to process heavy oil, with not only high propylene yield and selectivity, but also high yield of diesel and the high octane value of gasoline. Taking the atmospheric residue in Daqing as raw material, the technology can increase the total liquid yield to 82.66%, dry gas and coke yield to14.28%, propylene yield to 20.31%, and the RON of gasoline to 96. The commercial test unit has been operating safely for over 600 days, bringing notable economic profits for the company.

By using TMP technology, heavy oil can be converted thoroughly, and meanwhile, the contact and reaction between light components and catalyst can be finely controlled to enhance the selectivity of propylene. LCC-300 catalyst of high performance has been developed successfully by integrating new technologies for catalyst preparation, such as modification of small crystal HZSM-5 molecular sieve of high activity stability.
