On March 26, CNPC formally launched the construction of Dina 2 Gas Field, which is located in Kuche depression in the Tarim Basin, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The gas field is composed of two blocks ─ Dina 1 and Dina 2, with a cumulative proved gas in place volume of 175.2 billion cubic meters and a gas condensate reserves of 13.39 million tons. It is by far the largest condensate gas field ever discovered in China.

The productivity construction project for the Dina 2 Gas Field is expected to be completed by June 2009, adding additional gas supply to the West-East Gas Pipeline. The gas field will have a capacity in delivering 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 560,000 tons of gas condensate, i.e. 4.5 million toe every year.
