On June 26, Daqing Oilfield declared that fracture diverting refracturing technology had been successful in its peripheral fields. Since 2004, this technology has been used in more than 400 wells in peripheral fields of Daqing, resulting in an average individual well output increment of 3.35 tons per day at the early stage. Oil production per unit thickness is 36% higher than that by former refracturing measures, with a water cut drop of 39% in high water cut wells and an effective period of more than 11 months.

This new technology has been furnished with a series of matching techniques including fracture diverting mechanism during refracturing, change of crustal stress field in reservoirs, design and optimization of diverted fracture parameters, monitoring and identifying of diverted fractures and fracture diverting refracturing construction. By applying this technology, new drainage areas can be added so as to enhance the producing extent of reservoirs.
