China Petroleum Technology Development Corporation (CPTDC), a wholly owned subsidiary of CNPC, signed a contract with Uzbekneftegaz on December 25, 2006 to supply it with 23 rigs and other equipment with a delivery term of only 15 months. CPTDC is currently speeding up its preparatory works. The first four rigs have been completed and will be shipped in March 2007.

CPTDC, which entered the Uzbek oil market early in 1998, has established a good relationship with Uzbekneftegaz. CPTDC exported 10 ZJ50DB electric rigs to Uzbekistan for the first time in 2003, and established a rig service center and a spare parts warehouse staffed by experienced technicians.

CNPC and Uzbekneftegaz have signed an agreement on mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of oil and gas. After two years of research, CPTDC arranged for some of the best rig manufacturers in China to compete in the public bidding. Compared to its competitors, CPTDC boasts advantages in terms of its position as a professional international trading company and its technological cutting edge in rig manufacturing. CPTDC has won a number of technological tenders, owing to its abundant experience in large-scale drilling unit exports.
