Selected non-staple food prices –23rd week of 2014

Pork price rises at a lower rate, vegetable prices stop dropping

 

According to MOA's Agri-product Wholesale Market Information Network, the Nationwide Agri-product Wholesale Price Index for the 23rd week of 2014 (June 2-8, 2014) is 201.04 (year 2000=100), down by 0.15 point over the previous week. The Nationwide Non-staple Food Wholesale Price Index is 202.15, down by 0.16 point. The trade volume of 60 items in 50 wholesale markets under intensive monitoring is 625,900 tons, down by 6.7% compared to the previous week.

Note:

1.    The growth rate of pork price was 5.9, 3.8 and 0.4percentage points lower than that in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th week of May, respectively.

2.    The price of pork was 4.9% lower than that of the same period last year.

3.    The price of egg was 17.3% higherthan that of the same period last year.

4.    The total trade volume in 50 major wholesale markets under intensive monitoring of MOA.

5.    12 of the 28 vegetable items witnessed price drop, 2 items remained the same and the other 14 items saw price increase compared to those of the previous week.

6.    The vegetable prices rebounded slightly this week after dropping for 16 consecutive weeks, and the average was 1.9% higher than that of the same period last year.

7.    Being equal to that of the previous week.

8.    Change of prices was within 5%.

9.    Most of the 7 fruit items witnessed slight price increase.
