Vice Minister Niu Dun meets Argentine Vice Minister of Agriculture

Vice Minister Niu Dun met with Javier Rodríguez, Vice Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Argentina in Beijing on June 17, 2014. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening China-Argentina agricultural cooperation in the future.
Niu noted that over recent years, both countries have witnessed sound development momentum in agricultural cooperation and increased number of exchange visits. The joint action plan signed by the two ministries has been well implemented, the project of animal vaccine R&D and base establishment has forged ahead, and bilateral cooperation on agricultural high-tech research has also made great progress.
In order to deepen future cooperation, Niu put forward the following four-point proposal:
First, to improve bilateral cooperation mechanism;
Second, to enhance information exchange in the areas of agricultural policies and S&T advancement;
Third, to strengthen cooperation in agri-technological innovation; and
Fourth, through stepping up China-Argentina bilateral partnership, to promote the collaboration between China and Latin America and the Caribbean countries under the framework of China-Latin America Ministerial Forum on Agriculture.
Vice Minister Javier Rodríguez fully agreed with Niu''s above remarks and proposal.He reaffirmed that Argentina attaches great importance to agricultural cooperation with China, and is keen to work with China and cement pragmatic collaboration in agricultural policies, S&T, trade, investment, and so on. Besides, Argentina would like to play an active role in facilitating the cooperation between China and Latin America and the Caribbean countries.
At the meeting, the two sides also decided to intensify joint efforts in order to sign two agreements in July, 2014, namely the memorandum of understanding between the two ministries on animal health cooperation and the agreement between the academies of agricultural sciences of the two countries on agri-technological cooperation.
