The 3rd China-ASEAN High Quality Fruits Promotion Opened in Nanning of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Sept. 3rd, 2013. MOA Vice Minister Yu Kangzhen attended and addressed the Opening Ceremony.

The Promotion is the third of its kind. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN strategic partnership. The Promotion serves as a platform for fruit trade between China and ASEAN member countries, and displaying achievements in fruit production, processing and trade of major fruit-producing provinces of China in recent years.

The Promotion attracted more than 60 foreign delegates from 12 countries and regions including Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia and over 500 domestic representatives from fruit industry. Contracts worth 470 million Yuan (about U.S.76.8 million) were signed at the Promotion between 12 Chinese enterprises and foreign companies.

The Promotion displayed a variety of tropic fruits from ASEAN countries including longan from Thailand, jackfruit from Malaysia, red-fleshed pitaya from Viet Nam and mango from Cambodia. Temperate fruits from China attracted many visitors to have a taste. At the Promotion, officials from agricultural departments and representatives from fruit businesses of Guangxi, Shanxi, Jiangxi, Shandong, Shaanxi and Xinjiang provinces (autonomous regions) exchanged views on fruit production and trade.

Currently, fruit takes up the third largest share in agricultural trade between China and ASEAN countries, and the zero-tariff policy has been generally adopted in fruit trade between the two sides. The Promotion is expected to broaden cooperation areas and boost China-ASEAN fruit trade.
