Taiwan Fertiliser plans to shift facilities to Southeast Asia
Taiwan Fertiliser Co., Ltd may relocate its facilities to Southeast Asia to establish a precedent in its 66-year history, according to chairman F.H. Lee.
The three plants are in the three major cities--Keelung, Hsinchu, and Kaohsiung. However, the company is establishing a new plant in Taichung, central Taiwan, which is slated to come online in February 2013.
Lee disclosed that some of the machines in the three plants will be moved to the new Taichung plant and some shipped to Southeast Asia, where the proposed plants will be set up in nations with rich mineral and natural gas resources as Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, which also offer preferential duties as China.
The company has two properties in Hualien, eastern Taiwan, with a combined 10 hectares, and will reportedly develop an industrial park in one of the two plots.
Taiwan Fertiliser had after-tax earnings per share US$0.065 in first three quarters and is expected to score revenues of US$53.33 million in the fourth quarter with estimated profits of about US$40 million.
