Indonesia's PUSRI falls short of sales target
In January-July of this year, Indonesia's PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja's (PUSRI) sales of subsidised urea fertiliser in the nine provinces fell short of target, reaching just 83% of the target.
The nine provinces, where PUSRI supplies subsidised urea fertiliser are namely; South Sumatra, Jambi, Bengkulu, Lampung, Bangka Belitung, Banten, Jakarta, Central Java and Yogyakarta.
The target for first seven months was 878,200 tonnes, whereas PUSRI realised sales of just 727,025 tonnes during the period, the Antara news agency reported citing chief spokesperson of PUSRI, Masriza Ali.
The spokesperson attributed the lower sales to rainfall and on-going holy month of Ramadan. However, he expressed hope that the demand for subsidised fertiliser will pick up at the end of the first phase of planting season in September.
Generally, supplies of subsidised fertilisers in the nine provinces reach an average of 80,000-85,000 tonnes on a monthly basis, the agency quoted him saying.
