Vietnam's Ninh Binh plant to begin operation on March 30

With the expectation to annually supply 560,000 tonnes of urea fertiliser to the local market, Vietnam's Ninh Binh Nitrogenous Fertiliser Plant will start official operation on March 30.

The plant was built at Ninh Phuc Industrial Zone at an investment of VND11 trillion (US$521.3 million), said Chu Van Tuan, deputy general director of the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem).

Vinachem will receive the plant from contractor on March 30 after a 72-hour trial run is successfully completed, Tuan was quoted by the newspaper as saying on Thursday (Mar 22).

Vietnam is expected to produce 2.36 million tonnes of urea fertiliser this year after the 800,000-tonne Ca Mau Urea Plant and the 560,000-tonne Ninh Binh Nitrogenous Fertiliser Plant go into operation, allowing the country to export 560,000 tonnes of the fertiliser when the local demand reaches only 1.8 million tonnes.

The country will have bigger urea fertiliser output in 2015 when the when Ha Bac Fertiliser Plant will increase its capacity up to 500,000 tonnes per year and Cong Thanh Corporation plans to produce urea nitrate from coal dust with capacity of 560,000 tonnes per year.
