Kyrgyzstan eyes 200,000-tonne mineral fertiliser import

   

   

   

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Kyrgyzstan is planning to allocate a quota for the country in 2012 to buy 200,000 tonnes of mineral fertilisers from Uzbekistan.

   

   

Now Kyrgyzstan imports ammonium nitrate for early spring fertilizing of winter wheat and winter barley in the entire area of 190,000 hectares.

   

   

1,025 tonnes of nitrogen fertilisers are available now.

   

   

Total in 2012 to meet the needs of farms Kyrgyzstan needs 340,000 tonnes. Of these, 200,000 tonnes are nitrogen fertilisers, 129,100 tonnes - phosphorus and 11,700 tonnes - potash.

   

   

Today, the price of Uzbek fertiliser (ammonium nitrate) in the south of Kyrgyzstan is 19.5-20 som per 1 kilogramme, in the north - 18 KGS and nitrate produced in Russia costs 22-23 soms per one kilogramme.

   

   

Uzbek nitrate is delivered through Kazakhstan to Bishkek and then by road to the south.
