Ajinomoto Animal Nutrition to construct a new lysine production plant
Ajinomoto Co. Inc''s subsidiary, Ajinomoto Animal Nutrition Group Inc, will build a new "AjiPro®-L" lysine plant at its US-based subsidiary, Ajinomoto Heartland Inc, in order to increase its production capacity, and to expand its sales in the market.
Through this expansion, the Ajinomoto Group aim to grow "AjiPro®-L", a rumen protected Lysine, as one of the major driving forces in the animal nutrition business along with other existing products such as lysine, threonine, tryptophan and Valine.
Lysine, an essential amino acid for dairy cattle, cannot be utilised by ruminant animals as effectively as by monogastrics like chickens and pigs because of the complicated digestion and absorption systems that are specific to ruminants. After much research and development, the company has successfully developed a technology that enables lysine to bypass the rumen and to be absorbed in the small intestine of ruminant animals. Ajinomoto Heartland, Inc. launched commercial production and sales of "AjiPro®-L" in April 2011.
"AjiPro®-L" has obtained a good reputation for its high efficacy based upon abundant scientific evidences. In order to meet the growing demands by customers, Ajinomoto aims to expand its production capacity to over 10,000 tonne per year by FY2016.
The company will kick off its expansion plans by increasing the production capacity by 5,000 tonne per year in 2014 through the enhancement of its facility at Ajinomoto Heartland, Inc, which is located at Iowa, United States of America. Upon completion of construction in November 2014, production capacity is expected to hit 6,500 tonnes per year.
In addition, in order to deliver the value of this technology globally, they will strengthen their competitiveness through continuous investments in research and development for upgrading the efficacy of the product.
