Kazakhstan's grain exports hit over five million tonnes

Since the beginning of the marketing year, Kazakhstan has exported more than five million tonnes of grain, Tengrinews reports citing the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture reported that between June 1, 2013, the beginning of the marketing year, and February 1, 2014 the country exported around 5.3 million tonnes of grain, including flour in grain equivalent, which exceeds the last season's shipments by 25%.

In January-November 2013 Kazakhstan exported US$2.4 billion worth of agricultural products. It exceeded the average annual export of the goods in 2009-11 by 27%.

In 2013, Kazakhstan agricultural export to the Customs Union countries (Russia and Ukraine) increased by almost 65% against 2012.

According to the Minister of Agriculture Asylzhan Mamytbekov, starting from October, Kazakhstan's monthly export of grain and flour in grain equivalent amounts to one million tonnes. This is 33% more of what was shipped off during the same period of 2012.

Mamytbekov said that they plan to bring this year's grain export to nine million tonnes. In the other words, Kazakhstan's exports potential this year is 26% over that of last marketing year.
