China has been the largest producer of TiO2 in the world, accounting for 30% of the world's total capacity, over 670,000 tonnes in H1 2010 and reaching 1,986,000 tonnes as of H1 2010. Meanwhile, thanks to the short supply of TiO2 in EU and USA, China has witnessed a rapid growth in its TiO2 export and its first favorable balance of trade in May 2010. With the expansion of capacity, the industry now confronts different disadvantages: titanium mineral in short supply is the bottleneck, and the strict regulation on the industry affects the development. The short supply of international TiO2 which will continue over a long period of time is set to keep the price upward. However, there are bright prospects for China TiO2 industry. So it is high time that China TiO2 industry improved the quality of products as well as increased yields to be competitive in the international market.
