Kazakhstan scientists create specialised feed ensiling starter

Scientists in Kazakhstan have created a specialised bacterial starter for feed ensiling, allowing for better preservation of fodder and higher quality feed.

The bacterial starter, Kazbiosil, contains high active strains of lactic acid and propionic acid bacteria, and is effective on plants that are almost non-ensilagable, such as legumes or cereal straw.

Increasing the acidity of green fodder contributes to the suppression of pathogenic microorganisms and preservation of food nutrients, resulting in higher quality feed.

According to the scientists, Kazbiosil differs from all other ensilage products because it is specialised for a certain type of plant material.

Kazbiosil has been nominated for the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science and technology.
