John Thompson & Son sees rise in after-tax profits
UK animal feed supplier John Thompson & Son saw after-tax profits boosted by nearly a third in the 12 months to the end of July last year.
On the back of a 31% increase in turnover to GBP186 million (US$277 million), the Belfast-based company's profits for the period were GBP3.3 million (US$4.9 million).
At the end of the previous financial year, Thompson's paid GBP7 million (US$10.4 million) for AB Agri's feedmill business at Knockmore near Lisburn. The acquisition saw the company's workforce rise from 144 to 191.
The firm's mill in Belfast is the largest in Britain and Ireland.
