Volac acquires Czech speciality feed company

   

   


British dairy nutrition company Volac has announced its acquisition of Agrobest, the Czech Republic based speciality feed business.

   


Agrobest had been Volac's product distributor in central and eastern Europe since the early 1990s. The acquisition enables Volac to develop its business in the region through expansion into new and developing livestock feed markets.

   


The acquisition of Agrobest is expected to give Volac a platform for further growth in central and eastern Europe and a foundation to build on existing exports to Germany, Poland, Hungary, the Balkans, the Baltic States and Russia.

   


Average cows yields in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are reported to have risen by 50% in the last 10 years and this is an area that Volac is eager to capitalise on.

   


Dalibor Mikyska, one of the founders of Agrobest, will continue to run the business and will be joined by Connor Rudden, Technical Director at Volac and David Neville, Sales and Marketing Director as executive directors for the company.
