UK sets in new salmonella rules for animal feed
The Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has published a new code of practice for the control of salmonella in animal feeds.
The new code combines three previous codes and updating them with current best practice and regulatory details.
The Code covers a range of feed products and additives. Animal feed is considered to be a significant vector for the entry of salmonella into the food chain, which will have implications to both animal and human health, according to Ian Brown, chairman of the Advisory Committee on Animal FeedingStuffs.
