Thai shrimp feed prices reduced 5 percent amid cheaper raw materials

The Thai Feed Meal Association has lowered shrimp feed prices by 5 percent due to cheaper raw materials, effective as at November 12, 2008.

President Pornsilp Patcharintanakul informed that the shrimp feed price cut by the association was agreed upon with the Internal Trade Department.

The department also announced that fertiliser producers had agreed to reduce retail prices of the Urea-brand fertiliser, from THB26,500 per tonne to THB19,500 at the factory gate.

Retail price for a 50 kg sack will drop from THB1,400 to THB1,000.

Raw material costs of Urea have declined to THB9,300 to THB12,200 per tonne, as compared to previous THB27,332.

THB1 = US$0.0286 (November 13, 2008)
