Brazil is aiming to expand its pork exports to Argentina as announced by Brazil's Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Antonio Andrade.
Brazil and Argentina signed an agreement last year, establishing an import quota of three tonnes/month of Brazilian products. However, Andrade commented on the low value of exports.
In response, Argentine agricultural minister Norberto Yauhar pledged to personally address the matter so Brazil may expand its pig exports to the country.
Despite having expanded domestic production of pigs this year, pork demand in Argentina is high and therefore, needs to supplement pig supply with imports.
According to Yauhar, the lack of pig supplies in Argentina has led to an understanding between the two countries.
