Peru''s fishmeal exports havedropped 61% in volume and 45.8% in value, to 60,800 tonnes, worth US$110.2 million inJune,compared to 153,800 tonnes totalling US$203.4 millionin June2012.
   
   

The main markets for Peruvian fishmeal were China, Japan, Chile and Germany, which bought an overall volume of212,850 tonnes from January to June 2013.

   

   

June exports increased sales of fishmeal abroad in the first six months, amounting to US$443.2 million, 53% less than in the same period of 2012.

   

   

Australia, Belgium, Canada, Chile and China accounted for 76.6% of exports of fish oil.

   

   

Considering the first six months of 2013, a total of 29,900 tonnes of fish oil was sold abroad, 81.6% less than in the same period last year. These sales generated US$79.6 million, down 65.7% from the same period in 2012.

   

   

Peruvian seafood exports generated US$207.4 million in revenue last June, representing 46% less than in the same month in 2012, when its value was US$383.6 million, the Ministry of Production (Produce) reported.

   

   

The volume of exports fell by 59.7%, to 104,900 tonnes compared to 256,900 tonnes shipped a year earlier, led by lower fishmeal sales for indirect human consumption.

   

   

According to the latest Statistical Bulletin issued by Produce, between January and June 2013, the sale of 511,500 tonnes of seafood products abroad generated US$1,071.8 million, while in the same period last year, 1,194 had been exported for 700 tonnes worth US$1,780.6 million.

   

   

In June 2013, some 35,300 tonnes of frozen products were also exported, a volumewhich accounts for a decrease of 14.8% from the41,400 tonnes exported a year earlier.

   

   

In the first six months of this year, 185,400 tonnes of frozen products was sold abroad,which is3.5% lower than in the same period in 2012.
