Finlandto export pork to China
Petteri Orpo, Finland's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, announced recently that China has authorised two major Finnish meat producers, HKScan and Atria, to export pork to China.
Due to the import restrictions levied by Russia last year, the Finnish food industry had suffered huge losses as Russia was its major importing country. Hence, Petteri Orpo invited Chinese officials to Finland and to inspect their slaughterhouses and meat processing facilities last summer. He is hoping that the meat exports to China may help to offset the losses in the long run.
Besides pork, HKScan also expressed that the company is looking forward to export processed meat products to China in the near future.
