Guangzhou China, April 28, 2011 - Carbendazim supply currently is tight and its price keeps rising. Now, white carbendazim technical is USD5386/tonne, a growth of 9.4% compared with last season. And gray carbendazim technical is USD5232/tonne, up 9.7% compared with last season. Three reasons will be listed to show why carbendazim is hot in domestic market below. First, the prices of raw materials rise, and o-phenylenediamine，the main raw material of production carbendazim, is in short supply and its price is soaring. Second, most carbendazim production device are shutdown because wastewater drained by carbendazim manufacturers cannot reach the effluent standard. Therefore, carbendazim capacity in China reduces by 30% and carbendazim supply is tight. Third, carbendazim exports increases by 20%.
Carbendazim is one of the hottest fungicides. There are about 10 carbendazim manufacturers in China. At present, the capacity of carbendazim in China is 25,000 t/a and the output is about 8,000 tonnes per year. The demand for carbendazim formulation in China is above 10,000 tonnes and 2,000 tonnes carbendazim compounded preparation. In 2010, carbendazim exports ranks 5th after glyphosate, paraquat, chlorothalonil and other products.
