A Consultation on work scheme was held in Beijing to assess the risk of fly coil on March 14th, 2013.

Sui Pengfei, Director General of ICAMA and Li Wenxing, Division Director of MOA Department of Crop Production attended the Consultation. The event is chaired by ICAMA Deputy Director-General Ye Jiming.

In his speech, Sui stated that fly coil is a kind of public health pesticide which has attracted wide attention, its safe use is closely linked with human health. Sui urged to bring into full play the roles of enterprises, professional associations, universities and institutes to constitute an open and science-based risk assessment system to ensure systematic and science-based pesticide management. Sui also expressed his hope to establish a risk assessment working mechanism which is more regular and systematic, through the implementation of risk assessment of fly coil.
The risk assessment panel for fly coil was established at the Consultation, and selected the team leader and deputy team leader.

The Panel briefed the participants on the work scheme (draft) and procedure of risk assessment of fly coil and toxicological data of technical material (TC). The Panel fully acknowledged the innovative mechanism in pesticide management featuring risk assessment. The work scheme is scientific in principles, rationally designed and feasible, and thus is adopted by consensus.

Participants from enterprises vowed to lend full support to the risk assessment by providing materials and data, and conducting experiments.

Participants had an in-depth discussion on a range of issues such as models, scenarios and parameters for risk assessment.  Consensuses were reached on implementation measures for risk assessment of fly coil, and on suggestions and comments for supervision along manufacture, marketing and use links.

Toxicology experts reviewed the toxicological data of fly coil collectively.

Ye Jiming, ICAMA Deputy Director-General highly appreciated the hard work of the Panel and suggestions from the participants. He urged further investigation and further modification to the work scheme to ensure timely accomplishment of risk assessment.

Ye also urged the participants to actively engage into risk assessment to ensure the release and implementation of regulation governing fly coil.
