Xishan Coal and Electricity Power Co. Ltd., a major unit of Shanxi Coking coal group -- China’s largest metallurgical coal producer, produced 13.79 million tonnes of raw coal in the first half of the year, up 0.73% from the year prior, announced the company in a report released on July 27.That accounted for 48.5% of its annual target, mainly due to persisting weak demand vis-à-vis a supply glut in the domestic market.During the same period, total washed coal output rose 1.57% year on year to 6.46 million tonnes, accounting for 48.6% of its annual target, said the company.Sales of commercial coals over January-June stood at 11.93 million tonnes, dipping 7.01% year on year, it said.Over January-June, Xishan Coal realized 203 million yuan ($33.17 million) in net profit, plunging 45.65% from a year ago; total business revenue reached 9.28 billion yuan, down 24.26% on year, according to the report.Prices of all commercial varieties witnessed a year-on-year decrease over January-June, with average sales price at 405.98 yuan/t, down 18.1% on year.The average price of raw coals dropped 28.95% on year to 182.25 yuan/t; that of washed coking coal slumped 28.62% on year to 561.86 yuan/t.Besides, the company generated 5.7 TWh of electricity over January-June, down 22.97% on year; while power sales fell 23.88% from a year ago to 5.1 TWh.
