Huaneng Power International Inc., the listed arm of China’s top generator Huaneng Group, produced 81.18 TWh of electricity in the third quarter this year, up 13.85% from the previous year, the company said in its quarterly report on October 20.Power sales rose 13.66% on year to 76.44 TWh during the same period, showed preliminary data released by the company.In the first three quarters, power output of the company totaled 241 TWh, a year-on-year increase of 8.05%; while power sales stood at 227 TWh, up 7.72% from a year ago.The rise in power output was mainly due to the operation of newly-acquired plants last year and newly-added generating units this year.Singapore-based Tuas Power Ltd., owned by Huaneng, saw its power output taking 20.6% of the local market shares in the third quarter this year, down from 21.7% a year ago; while the share over January-September stood at 21.9%, up from 21.6%.Huaneng said its on-grid electricity price averaged 446.68 yuan/MWh during the same period, dropping 1.48% year on year.Net profit of the company rose 16.74% from a year ago to 13.24 billion yuan in the third quarter; its revenue fell 7.98% on year to 97.25 billion yuan during the same period.Meanwhile, GD Power Development Co., the listed arm of China Guodian Corporation, produced a total 124.79 TWh of electricity in the first three quarters, down 8.06% on year, with third quarter output falling 2.78% on year to 46.5 TWh.Of the January-September total, thermal plants contributed 96.7 TWh of electricity, down 11.48% from a year ago.It sold 117.86 TWh of electricity to the grids between January and September, down 8.46% year on year, with average on-grid price at 357.78 yuan/MWh, down 4.4% on year. Of this, thermal power sold to the grids during the same period fell 12.15% on year to 90.01 TWh.Separately, Datang International Power Generation Co., a subsidiary of China Datang Corporation, produced a total 133.19 TWh of electricity over January-September, down 5.65% from the year prior. Its on-grid electricity amounted to 126.12 TWh during the same period, down 5.51% year on year.
