Brazil's pork exports increase 9% in Q3 of 2015

Brazil's pork exports for the third quarter of 2015 jumped 9% ahead of the same period in 2014 as overall exports for this year reached 335,800 tonnes so far.

During the January–September period, the value of exports rose 18%, to about BRL2.8 billion (US$711 million). From July to September, total pork exports spiked up by more than a third to 142,000 tonnes due to continual depreciation of the Brazilian real.

For value in the third quarter of 2015 compared to last year, a 41% increase is registered for pork exports in Brazilian real terms, but an 8% drop in US dollar terms.

Russian demand also drove Brazil's porkexports since the country remains one of the few to serve the Federation. In the third quarter, exports to Russia rose by 74%. I

Increase was also observed in the pork trade to Hong Kong, with an additional 6,100 tonnes entering the Chinese SAR in the same period. However, China, on the other hand, received 2,200 tonnes of Brazilian pork during the first nine months of 2015, although the market holds promises for trade expansion in the future.
